Kyle: Dragnet – because I can’t think of any other tv adaptation that I liked as much
Clare:Charlie's Angels. Took a bad, degrading TV show and turned it into a bad ass, dominatrix action franchise.
PoolMan:Charlie's Angels: Had enough of the spirit of the original, plus some heavily updated modern butt-kicking... FOR GOODNESS! There were some
attractive women used in the shoot too, if I recall correctly...
Justin:South Park, since it not only took the hilarity to a new (and definitely adult-rated) level, but produced some of the best musical numbers in recent movie history. What would Mr. Boitano do, indeed?
What TV-to-Movie adaption was the most faithful to the spirit of the original show?
Kyle:The Brady Bunch Movie – because I couldn’t sit through the original show, and I couldn’t sit through this movie
Clare: Pick a Star Trek flick. My favorite happens to be The Wrath of Kahn.
PoolMan: The Pokemon Series: No, I haven't seen any of them, but from what I gather, they simply throw the kids more advertising and hope they buy. That sounds pretty faithful to the TV series.
Andie: I actually think that Masters of the Universe was a really faithful transition. The characters were completely how I imagined them to be like and I loved the story line.
DnaError:X-Files. It was a big episode of the TV show, not very good, but faithful.
Justin:Mystery Science Theater 3000, since it was pretty much the TV show in a larger (and easily accessible by newbies) format.
What TV-to-Movie adaption was the flat-out worst?
Kyle: McHale’s Navy – I never saw the original show, but I really couldn’t sit through this movie.
Clare: Either Rocky and Bullwinkle w/ Robert Deniro or Dudley Do-right w/Sarah Jessica Parker. I've not seen either of them, but there's no way I can believe they don't bite the big one.
PoolMan: Lost in Space: overproduced, underthought, and covered in wierd looking creatures that neither a) scare me or b) amuse me. Same goes for Matt LeBlanc. No wait, scratch that, he scares me plenty (in this flick, anyways).
Andie:The Avengers. I haven't ever seen the original TV show, but this movie absolutely SUCKED!
DnaError: Just too many to name. Mod Squad and The Avengers come to mind.
Justin: Thinking. Why not Mission: Impossible, which contained an incomprehensible plot and veered radically away from the team spirit of the series to focus on Mr. Cruise's ego.
What TV series would you love to see made into a movie?
Kyle: DOCTOR WHO!!!!!
Clare: The Sopranos, or to hit the classics I'm gonna pick Miami Vice.
Andie: Okay, everybody is going to laugh so hard at this but there used to be this cartoon show called the Laff Olympics. It had cartoon characters from like 10 different cartoon shows competing in these wacky olympic games. Bad cartoons would always try to sabotage and good cartoons would also triumph and it was incredibly funny in the meantime. Anyway, I think a live action version of those, with well known actors play all the different cartoons, would be really cool.
Justin: The world desperately needs a Twin Peaks sequel to tie up the many, many questions left by the series (and that Fire Walk With Me prequel didn't help in the least).
PoolMan: I guess I would really like to see A-Team (which is already in production) stay really true to the series. Long live Mr T!
