A Farewell to Mutants in Arms

Through the years here at MRFH Headquarters, we've had a good number of people flow in and out of our doors. Some of them brought writing talent, some of them brought fine introspection, and some of them brought pizza. But today we want to acknowledge the departure of two people who've brought that, and so much more.

John "DnaError" Leavitt and Andrea "Andie" Reiher mark their last day today as full time Mutant Reviewers From Hell. The inescapable truth of working for a strictly nonpaying movie review site is that just about everything else in life has a way of taking up one's valuable time, and quite often life just gets in the way of not being paid for hours of labor. Dna and Andie have both hit similar points in their lives where the rigours of school, work, and other incredibly worthwhile endeavors have pretty much taken over their free time. Sadly, we the "management" of the MRFH (we like to pretend we have control over things) have suggested an amicable split with these two lovely creatures, and all in question have reluctantly agreed.

Today, we wanted to pay tribute to our friends, with a couple of memories and choice reviews that they gave us.

Andie came to the MRFH with a keen wit and some existing creative writing already up on the web. We settled her in right away as our mistress of sex and children's entertainment. For a while, she was our only fe-mutant, but she put up with the boy mutants' pesterings marvelously (despite rumours that she regularly made out with with every guy here). She's always represented the uncommon woman very well, narrowly edging out Justin in our Miss Mutant 1999 competition. She's described nearly every actor and actress in the IMDb as "cute", and has typed out the phrase "hee hee" more times than our search engine could possibly count. We love her, and it'll never be the same without our beauty queen.

Our fond memories of Andie include...

Andie's Bio

Andie now has the distinguished honor of being a senior at Truman State University. She will be graduating in May with a BA in Theater and she has no idea what she's going to do with herself after graduation. Probably go live in a refridgerator box on a street corner in Iowa. In between being President of her sorority Sigma Chi Delta, videotaping practices and games for the TSU football team, and acting in plays, she somehow finds time to watch movies and every once in awhile sends in reviews of them. The highlight of her summer was going to New York and working as a camp counselor. This trip included a week stay in NYC with her mom in which she met DNA Error (in person!) via a very strange phone conversation in the Empire State Building that was more akin to "Scream" than "Sleepless in Seattle." The highlights of her acclaimed stage career include playing Brooke in "Noises Off!" and Hippolyta, the Queen of the Amazons in "A Midsummer Night's Dream." She would also like to add that Justin's "max of 3" on our favorite movies/tv shows/etc is just plain mean.

  • Will Be Played In The Movie By: A young Kim Cattrall
  • Current Favorite Movies: Jaws, American Beauty, Clue
  • Current Favorite TV Shows: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sex & the City, Whose Line is it Anyway?
  • Current Favorite Books: Any Harry Potter book, any Dave Barry Book, The Pain and the Great One
  • Current Favorite Video Games: Like I have time for video games. I hate video games. The only ones I like are Jeopardy and Mario Kart
  • Hobbies: Singing, dancing, acting

DnaError was pulled, kicking and screaming, from the confusing quagmire that is our Forum. We just loved the poor spelling, exceptional sense of humour, and knack for art. Dna became our defacto graphic design guru, directly responsible for a very significant portion of the visuals we use on the site today. But more importantly, he had a real gift for incomprehensibly explaining his love of certain movies that most souls would leave unviewed. He's afraid of nothing, including being our youngest writer ever (I believe he was 15 when he came aboard) and of temporarily being PoolMan's lackey.

One of his projects was starting the The Mutant Reviewers web comic on Keenspace, which inspired PoolMan to further develop his drawing skills on the new version of the comic. His graphic prowess was very appreciated at MRFH, and he is sure to go far in his art.

Our time travelling Boy From The Future is all grown up.

Fave Dna memories...

DnaError's Bio

DnaError is the product of cheap beer and 3 cord blues. He is a starving student of the artistic persuasion. He enjoys long lunches, late nights, Chinese food, democracy, Mystery Science Theater, John Stuart Mill, and regulated dissent. He was told by a gypsy at a Ren Faire that he would earn his fortune in Florida. Dna currently lives in New York City.

  • Will Be Played In The Movie By: Jamie Kennedy
  • Current Favorite Movies: Wayne's World, Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
  • Current Favorite TV Shows: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Simpsons, MST3K
  • Current Favorite Books: Cryptomanicon, Pass the Cannoli: Tales of the New World, Sexual Personae: Art and Decadence in the West.
  • Current Favorite Video Games: Baldur's Gate 2, Sim City (any), And Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Hobbies: Sleep, Reading, making snotty jabs in my lecture notes.

Dna and Andie will be welcome to submit guest articles in the future, so we're sure this isn't the last we ever hear from them. Because of this, we've agreed not to give them Zombie Status, and we'll always look forward to hearing from them again.

From Justin, PoolMan, Clare, Kyle, and all the MRFH faithful, THANK YOU both, from the bottoms of our hearts, and all the best in everything you do!

If you'd like to send a farewell thank-you note, you can write DnaError at JLeavitt5@aol.com and Andie at terminallypretty@hotmail.com.
