Update on the Update

Hey all! I know, it’s pretty filthy around here, what with all the dust and dirt of our new construction. We appreciate your patience as we integrate the blog software into Mutant Reviewers — a lot of stuff is going on “under the hood” to lay a firm foundation for the plethora of updates to follow, but it may not look like much is happening from a cursory inspection of the site.

One of the reasons we’re doing this now is because the winter/Christmas break has freed up some time to make this transition — and also because many of our loyal readers will most likely be traveling or busy making cookies and saving Santa’s butt yet again. The plan is to get a *functional*, if not polished and finished, version of the site up and running by December 24, so that we can resume daily updates. That doesn’t mean we’ll be done by then — we have a LOT to do (MRFH contains 11 years of content that has to be sorted and indexed).

I’m going to do these public updates for all of you to keep you informed during this time, probably about once or twice a week. So far, we have made the following improvements, changes and transitions:

• We’ve picked a theme that’s pretty similar, color-wise, to the old site, so that going back and forth between blog posts/pages and the web pages won’t be too jarring. Spent a lot of time modifying the theme to do what we need it to.
• New custom banner, without the lame-looking text superimposed over it
• Page links (reviews, features, cult tv, and forum) should be working, so that you can access all of our older content.
• The Cult TV is the first “table of contents” page to make the full transition — give it a whirl!
• You have the ability to comment under any post or review that appears on this site from now on!
• The Stranger Than Fiction review is really just a test bed for seeing how we can post reviews in this format, and how we might be streamlining them a tad. Don’t worry, we don’t want to cut out any of the good stuff (but you may need to part with any past attachments to the Mutant Meter — I think it’s breathed its last). There’s going to be more changes to this review post, so don’t judge it until we’re done with it.
• Movies starting with A-C have been added to the reviews page, with the updated links and a few pleasing graphics for each letter.
• You can now subscribe to our RSS feed — http://www.mutantreviewers.com/blog1/feed

We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us, obviously. Soon, you should see our entire Mutant staff adding content, including Eunice’s awesome news posts (that’s right — MRFH and the Mutant News Annex have now merged into one terrifying entity). We’re going to keep working on the look, and soon we’ll be asking for feedback on how to make the site look and function even better for you!
