Every once in a while we like to shake things up here at MRFH. Thus, entire weeks become devoted to special themes and films... sort of our own made-to-order holidays! Revisit our theme weeks and lose yourself in the moment. But remember to stay fully dressed.

From April 25 - May 1, 2004, Mutant Reviewers From Hell hosted "80's Week" as our first official theme week. It was a week of pastels, gnarly movies, and long-repressed memories. Sure, this theme week might have broke Kyle's mind — causing him to re-enact the "Old Time Rock 'n Roll" scene from Risky Business over and over — and we even take responsibility for reminding you about Howard The Duck. But you know it was worth it. And knowing is half the battle.

Take a trip back in the company DeLorean to the Decade of Me:

From August 16-19, 2004, Justin threw his survival instinct to the wind and had it whip right back at him and knock him silly. As a result, he engaged in a four-movie marathon and inspired the MRFH House Party week, where every day is a new party in a different house!

When we took a MRFH poll of movie series our readers would like to see reviewed in their entirety, Police Academy won the top honors. Thus, during the closing hours of December 2004 (Dec. 26-Jan. 1), we devoted an entire week to getting through this series with no dignity left in our souls.

Kyle hounded and hounded us. "When are you going to do a James Bond week, huh? I mean, we did freaking HOUSE PARTY week for pete's sake! I want Bond! And I don't care how you interpret that previous sentence!" So, from March 13-19, 2005, here you go. The brainchild of perhaps one of the biggest 007 fans alive, dragging the rest of us along in his wake.

The needs of the geek outweigh the needs of the few... or the one. With our fifth theme week at MRFH, we came to the consensus that a long, hard look at both the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises were long overdue. Flip-flopping back and forth between Borg Cubes and Death Stars, Justin is in trouble between whiney Luke and whiney Wesley Crusher, between Klingon Battle Swords and Lightsabers, we left no space-stone unturned in our quest to have a fun week that no one on staff would be able to look at themselves in the mirror for at least five days after. It really was one of our biggest theme weeks yet, and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did making it (June 5-11, 2005).

What happens when the four male mutants force the four female mutants to review movies of unbridled testosterone... and the females got to subject the males to estrogen celluloid? Well, we certainly found out during Gender Clash Week (March 6-10, 2006)!

Bitten by a radioactive spider, powered by Earth's yellow sun, blessed by the Norse gods and out for vengeance come the Mutants giving ode to their comic book counterparts. It's Superhero Week, where all your dreams of fantastic powers that you will never, ever have come true! Or, don't. (September 3-16, 2006)

From April 23-28, 2007, the MRFH staff ate lightning, crapped thunder and developed the steely eye of the tiger for our readers' enjoyment. Yes, it was Rocky Week, a sacred era to cover all six of Dr. Stallone's epic films in painstaking detail. Yo Adrian!

From July 30-August 4, 2007, cult master Joss Whedon and his creations went under the MRFH knife in a gruesome surgery that was bound to have hilarious consequences! Also, malpractice suits. Honestly, it got a bit gross.

Other Whedon/MRFH articles: Firefly review, 9th AMA award, Spawn of the Screen: Buffy, Alien Resurrection, Serenity vs. Star Wars

From November 5-10, 2007, we turned our razor-dull wit and spooky sunglasses on the horror legend himself, Mr. Stephen King. Since he has a bazillion adaptations (and sequels) of his works on DVD, we could only hope for a small sampling for this creeptastic theme week.

Other Stephen King articles: The Stand, The Shawshank Redemption, IT, The Langoliers, Desperation, The Shining, Dreamcatcher, Stand By Me, Needful Things, Children of the Corn

From May 12-17, 2008, MRFH dove into the Stygian depths to shine the holy light of film criticism on all things Hell-related in cinema (or at least felt like Hell while we watched them).
